Thrilling anime
Tense, fast and hard to stop watching.
The kind of show that makes a lie of "just one more episode". Something is always about to go wrong, the clock is always running, and the show knows exactly when to cut away.
Watch one when you want to be pulled along rather than invited. These are not background shows — they need your attention, and they repay it.
Attack on Titan is the obvious answer for scale and dread. Steins;Gate is the one that hurts, because it makes you care before it starts twisting. Death Note is the purest cat-and-mouse in the medium. Psycho-Pass if you want it colder.
Be honest with yourself about what you want from this mood. Thrilling is not the same as violent, and some of the most tense anime — Monster, Kaiji — have almost no action at all. Tension comes from consequence, not from a body count.
Ranked by what viewers logged on Nikkilog — not by score, and not copied from anywhere.
